Wildlife is indeed abundant in the state of Colorado, and no more so than in and around Estes Park. September and October is the mating season for elk, and it is the best time to encounter these beauties. The bulls round up their desired harems using their prowess and impressive bugle calls. If you are lucky, you might just witness a competition over a female in which strength and virility will prove key to the victor.
For those who would rather avoid any unnecessary clashed with wildlife, the Stanley Hotel hosts a special celebration every October.
